Career:

Graduated in mechanical engineering at the University of Agricultural Sciences (Budapest, HU) in 1966, and obtained his doctor degree (Ph.D) in vehicle engineering from the same University in 1984. Constructer with the Agricultural Research Institute and the Research Institute for Building Sciences between 1966 and 1975. Hungarian Patent Attorney since 1975 and European Patent Attorney since 2003. From 1975 to 2008 he was Partner with DANUBIA Patent & Trademark Attorneys. Dr. Markó is fluent in Hun-garian, German and English. In his 33-year IP practice, he has had extensive experience in all forms of intellectual property, specialized in the Hungarian and European prosecution and litigation of patents, utility models and designs. From 2008 Dr. Markó maintains his own Patent Agency in Budapest, and in co-operation with us, represents our client’s interest directly before the Hungarian Patent Office and Courts, in all instances.

  • Reporter General of the UNION of EU Practitioners in Intellectual Property (1996-2005)
  • Member of the Hungarian Patent Attorney Qualifying Examination Board (1996-present)
  • Member of the Presidium of the Hungarian Expert Body on Industrial Property, appointed by the Minister of Justice (2003-present)
  • Member of Presidium of the Hungarian Chamber of Patent Attorneys (1996-present) (Vice-President 1997-2003)
  • Lecturer on the Higher IP-Courses in Hungary (1985-present)
  • Member in EPI, UNION, AIPPI.


Publications:
Dr. Markó has written numerous articles on IP law and practice, published in Hungarian, German and English (see www.markopatent.hu). He is co-author of the Hungarian "Industrial Property Handbook" (1994).
